Made-to-Order Seat Covers in Ireland: Returns, Cancellations and What to Check Before You Pay
When you buy a pair of shoes online, you expect to send them back if they don't fit. Custom seat covers are different. Every set we make at our Dublin workshop is cut and sewn for one specific vehicle, in the colours and materials you chose, so it can't simply go back on a shelf for the next customer. This guide explains how returns, faults and cancellations work for made-to-order seat covers in Ireland, and, more usefully, what to double-check before you pay so you never need them.
Why Made-to-Order Items Are Treated Differently
Your covers are manufactured to the make, model, materials, colours and stitching you choose in the 3D configurator. Because each set is produced to your specification and cannot be resold, made-to-order items are not covered by the standard 14-day change-of-mind return that applies to off-the-shelf goods under EU consumer law.
That's the trade-off for a cover that fits your seats properly, rather than a one-size product that sags and shifts. If you're still deciding between the two approaches, our comparison of custom vs universal seat covers explains what you gain.
Your Rights If Something Is Wrong
Made-to-order does not take away your statutory rights. If your covers arrive damaged, develop a manufacturing fault, or don't match the specification you ordered, we'll put it right by repair, replacement or refund. To make it quick:
- Contact us within 14 days of delivery for transit damage or an incorrect item, so we can raise it with the courier in time.
- Send photos of the issue, plus your order details and car registration number.
- Don't cut or fit covers you believe are faulty or incorrect. Once openings are cut as described in our installation guide, the set can't be exchanged.
- Where a return is agreed, we cover the cost of returning the item to our workshop.
Orders ship free within Ireland with tracking via DPD or An Post Express. If tracking says delivered but nothing has arrived, or the parcel is visibly damaged, tell us and we'll open a claim with the courier on your behalf. More on the delivery process is in our shipping and delivery guide.
Cancellations and Deposits
Production starts shortly after payment, so timing matters:
- If you need to change or cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible. Once cutting has begun, the order can no longer be cancelled.
- Workshop orders are secured with a €200 non-refundable deposit. The details are on our payment options page, and our guide to online checkout vs workshop deposit compares the two routes.
- The standard waiting period is 6-8 weeks from payment, so it's worth ordering well before you need the car looking its best. See what happens after you order for the full timeline.
A Pre-Payment Checklist
Almost every problem with a made-to-order set can be prevented in five minutes. Before you pay, check:
- Your exact vehicle. Confirm the make, model and generation against the supported car list. Double-check your registration number too, because a set made for the wrong model can't be exchanged. Our article on how cover patterns work explains why this matters.
- Seat layout. Count your seats, and note split-folding rear benches, integrated armrests and any other features, so they're reflected in the order.
- Colours and stitching. Screens vary, so look at your design in the configurator and the colours page in good light. Our guide to choosing colours and stitching can help if you're torn between two options.
- Material. Think about how you use the car: kids, dogs, work use or daily commuting. The materials guide covers the differences.
- Fitting route. Decide whether you'll fit the covers yourself or book professional fitting at the workshop. Our DIY vs professional fitting comparison helps you choose.
Not Sure? Ask First
If anything is unclear, such as whether your trim level is covered or how a particular feature will be handled, ask before you pay. Message us through the contact form with your registration number, and we'll check against our patterns. We aim to reply within two working days. Our workshop is at Unit 229, Blanchardstown Corporate Park 2, Ballycoolin Road, Dublin 15.
