From Order to Fitted Seats: What Happens After You Buy

Published on 2026-06-04

You've clicked "order" on your custom design โ€” and now what? Because every set is made to order, there's a production journey between your payment and your new interior. Knowing what happens at each stage makes the wait easier, so here's the honest, step-by-step version.

Step 1: Your Order Is Confirmed

Online orders are paid in full at checkout through Revolut Business โ€” cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are all accepted. If you ordered at the workshop instead, your โ‚ฌ200 deposit books the job, with the balance due on completion (payment options explained here).

One small but important detail: include your car registration number in the payment notes. It helps us match the pattern to your exact vehicle variant without any back-and-forth.

Step 2: Your Design Goes to the Pattern

This is where custom differs from everything else on the market. Your covers aren't picked from a shelf โ€” they're cut from a pattern developed for your specific make, model and year, in the pattern (Original, Honeycomb or Classic), materials and colours you chose in the 3D configurator.

Two-tone panels, contrast stitching, headrest colours, armrest options โ€” everything you configured is written into the production sheet.

Step 3: Production โ€” Why 6โ€“8 Weeks?

The standard waiting period is 6โ€“8 weeks from the date of payment. Here's what that time actually buys you:

  • Cutting โ€” each panel is cut to your vehicle's template, not a generic shape.
  • Sewing โ€” panels, quilting and stitching are assembled by hand. Honeycomb quilting in particular is slow, precise work.
  • Safety details โ€” airbag-safe seams are sewn exactly where your seats need them, so side airbags deploy correctly. More on that in Safety and Airbags.
  • Quality control โ€” every set is checked against the order before it's packed.

A baggy universal cover can be in the post tomorrow. A tailored set cannot โ€” and the difference is visible every single day you drive. If you're still weighing that trade-off, read Universal vs Custom.

Step 4: Dispatch and Delivery

As soon as your set passes final checks, it ships:

  • Free tracked delivery anywhere in Ireland via DPD or An Post Express.
  • EU orders ship at standard rates and typically arrive within 5โ€“10 business days of dispatch.

You'll be able to follow the parcel with the included tracking, so there are no surprise doorstep moments.

Step 5: Fitting

When the box arrives, you have two routes:

  • DIY fitting โ€” about 45โ€“60 minutes with scissors and patience, following the installation instructions. Start with the backrest, align everything before cutting any openings, and take the headrest cuts slowly.
  • Professional fitting โ€” available exclusively at our Dublin workshop in Ballycoolin. We fit, you approve, done. We've compared both routes in detail in DIY vs Professional Fitting.

A Realistic Timeline at a Glance

| Stage | When | |---|---| | Order & payment | Day 0 | | Pattern & production | Weeks 1โ€“7 | | Quality control & dispatch | Final week | | Delivery (Ireland) | Free, tracked, right after dispatch | | Fitting | ~1 hour DIY, or a workshop visit |

While You Wait

A few useful things to do during production:

  • Read the installation instructions once now โ€” you'll fit faster later.
  • Give your seats a proper clean so the covers go onto a fresh surface (cleaning guide).
  • Check your headrests and levers so you know where the openings will go.
